My Super Skin Secrets!

Dear Reader,

Hi! My name's Rebecca ( but you can call me Becca) and I'm really into skincare. Some people may collect stamps, old coins, or lipsticks, but for me? It's all about the skincare products! Through the duration of my 15 years of having everything from dry, oily to combination skin and travelling to countries of all different climates; I have concocted a short list of my best kept secrets in taking care of the largest organ in your body- your skin!

Secret #1 The best way to unclog pores!
I find that in the shower is always the best time to unclog your pores because the hot water opens up your pores- meaning you can use your facial scrub to gently buff the dead skin, bacteria and straight up gunk out of your pores, leaving you feeling fresh and free! Another top tip is to turn on the water to cold for a few seconds before getting out, to close your pores and your hair follicles, preventing more bacteria getting in and frizzy hair! In the shower, I like to use a scrub from Clean & Clear.

Secret #2 Removing your makeup is E-SSEN-TIAL *sassy finger snap*

Okay, who here has gone to bed to then realise that you've left your makeup on, but can't be bothered to take it off? *guiltily raises hand* Yep, I'm sure we've all done it. To counteract this lazy habit, I advise you to keep a packet of makeup remover wipes on your bedside table, so even on your most sloth like of nights, you can still save your skin from all those nasty chemicals! So simple!

Secret #3 Get a perfect tan without harmful UV rays or the hassle of fake tan!

The sun can really damage your skin, and too much time in it can even lead to skin cancer and many other diseases! In the heat of the summer season, it's hard to remember this when trying to get the perfect tan, and when using fake tan instead, it's hard not to give up with all the hassle and stress of streaks and patches...

I was stuck in this slump for many a summer, yet this season I discovered the wonder that is gradual tan! And let me tell you, the building up of it every day is certainly worth it for the natural, sun kissed and easy to work with results! I've been using the St Tropez Gradual Tan in Medium to Dark so I can get the rich colour I want with less use, and the formula is so moisturising, you don't need to worry about dry patches and it's super healthy for your skin (bonus!)

Unlike fake tan, it doesn't wear off and look awful after a few days, but gradually fades if you don't top it off and looks totally flawless and natural. (Okay I sound like an advertisement here, but it's true! Hence the gushing...)

Thanks for reading my super skin secrets! Love Rebecca xo

Life Lesson #1- Empathy

Okay so, this post is straying from the usual flock of blog posts I usually read, yet this is something I want to write about and document, so even if virtually nobody reads this, I can come back and read it someday, kind of like a diary!

Life Lesson #1- Empathy

So recently I've wrote a speech in English, on not judging a book by it's cover and researching for it has really opened my eyes into the world of... well basically everything that wasn't my world.
People may look at this tweet from Marina and the Diamonds (who- fun fact- I adore) and think 'what? no, duh I know the world doesn't revolve around me! Pft...' But just think about it, when you're living in your own skin 24 hours a day, 7 days a week- it's simply hard not to think the world revolves around you- sure yours does anyway. And sometimes we get so consumed and tangled up in the many problems and distresses in our own lives that we can forget that everyone around us is also going through their own plot twists in the story of their lives. (wow, second blog post in and I'm already getting a 1D quote in- way to go Becca...) Doing research for this english speech of mine, I came across this quote from a very wise woman, Wendy Mass:
This quote speaks to me as it made me realise that although I feel like my own problems are huge- so does everybody and before I judge anybody, I should 'walk a mile in his shoes' (quoting To Kill a Mockingbird...my English teacher would be proud). It's so easy to spiral down the dark tunnel of judging others and gossiping, yet until you know every nook and cranny of their lives, you have no right to judge anybody. Although it's good to be in touch with your own thoughts and feelings, sometimes it's good to take a step out of your own world and take a deep fresh breath of someone else's perspective. You can never really know how someone is feeling until you look at things from their point of view.

So as I've said, this is only the first step on the bridge towards my full maturity (however much I protest that I believe I know it all). I find that although I am a pretty wise 15 year old, there's always another thing that life can teach me and I'm all open ears for it, to grow as a person as my adult years loom ahead. So feel free to join me on my journey- there's room for everybody- buckle up, enjoy the ride and I hope to see you for chapter two!

Mac Lipstick! (Russian Red)

I was looking for some good lipsticks to ask for Christmas and I stumbled upon a video on youtube of Zoella raving about how amazing it was so I decided to ask for it for Christmas! (evidently I have become addicted to all of Zoe's blogposts and videos ever since! ;)
<3
The lipstick did not disappoint! I love it so much! The colour is beautiful and would suit any skintone. It is not too vampy which is usually the case with red lipsticks when I use them, but this shade is gorgeous with just the right amount of yellow and pink undertones!

I love the way it applies too. It is very creamy and the scent is delicious! I find that it smells like white chocolate but that could just be me! Although, it is very pleasing to the nose (buds? xD)
<3

Above is me wearing the lipstick, I angled the light so it gave me a tanned skin look to show what it would look like  in the Summer. Unfortunately, I could never have as tanned skin as this in the cold Irish Winter!
I also love only dabbing a little of this lipstick on my lips and blending it in and adding clear lipgloss, it gives a beautiful deep pink lipgloss shade and lets you mix things up a bit! (sorry I don't have a photo but you should try it out yourself if you this lipstick!)
<3

The only downside to this product is that it is so bright and outgoing, I do find it hard to have the courage to wear it out! But I wore it throughout Christmas and got many compliments so all you have to do is be brave and have confidence that you do look good!
<3

That's all from me! Also this is my first blogpost, so I would appreciate feedback and maybe some tips on how blogging works, how to follow other blogs and all that! Thankyou! xx
